It was created on November 12th 2004 and its main objective is to foster cooperation for collective reflection and action in the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality through several means, such as research, lobbying, dissemination of information, awareness-raising and training.
About the Artist: Helena Barbagelata is an Iberian-italian multidisciplinary artist, fashion model and researcher, that works predominantly in the medium of painting, mixed media and larger scale installations. She studied Philosophy, Art, Literature and Politics and was the recipient of several research fellowships from the Onassis Foundation/University of Athens, Università di Trieste, Universitat de Valencia, among others.Her interdisciplinary practice illuminates unexpected facets of subjects, and generates new approaches and ideas. As an expressionist, she attempts to depict not objective reality, but rather the subjective emotions and responses that subjects and events inspire, in order to explore greater emotional depths and the intricacies of humanity.
